Shangri-La was purposely built on one level to create a grand Spanish-influenced, spacious and exceptionally comfortable villa that can easily accommodate up to eight people. The property is particularly well-suited to those who enjoy outdoor living and entertaining; your days are met with panoramic and unobstructed sea views beyond the large swimming pool with sun bathing patio, and your evenings are guaranteed to be enchanting and memorable with warm Caribbean breezes and star-filled skies.
The approach to Shangri-La via a majestic 75 ft drive lined with stately mahogany trees and giant ferns is impressive, and the grounds are sumptuously appointed with tropical plants and fruit trees surrounding the house. The media room/bar is outfitted with an LCD flat screen television, Blueray/DVD player, stereo, and CD player, all installed in a custom designed cabinet. A collection of videos, DVDs and CDs, as well a games and cards, are also provided. The villa has four en suite bedrooms; each air-conditioned and professionally decorated. The bedrooms are named in accordance with the décor: The White Room, The Polo Room, The Princess Margaret Room and The Master Bedroom.
Great Room
As you pass through double doors, flanked by bronze pineapple sconces, you enter the Grand Salon Sala Manjer. Crystal Versailles chandeliers at either end of the room elegantly illuminate the tray ceiling. To one side there is a seated living area with comfortable sofas and lounge chairs, and French doors lead you to the adjacent gazebo with its soothing fountain. On the opposite side of the room is the dinning area, with a mirrored buffet used for elegant dinners and afternoon English tea. A plantation style desk unites these areas, allowing you to enjoy the tradewinds and theCaribbean Seabeyond.
The Courtyard
Large Mahogany louvered doors open onto the loggia and courtyard. The furnishings include upholstered sofas and chairs, and a dining/ game table. Ceiling fans with chandelier lights suggest the Colonial period. The focal point of the courtyard is a three tiered coral stone fountain with carved dolphins. From there you pass through gates leading to a patio surrounding the large swimming pool. Comfortable sofas, chairs, lounges, and sun umbrellas are found throughout the pool area for your comfort.
Kitchen
The kitchen is to the side of the house, adjacent to the media room, butlers pantry, and dinning area. On either side there are large work counters with a granite-topped center island. There is a large refrigerator with ice maker, a laundry room with washer and dryer, maid's quarters, and an herb garden.
Media Room
The media room/bar is outfitted with an LCD flatscreen television, Blu-ray/DVD player, stereo, and CD player, all installed in a custom designed cabinet. There is ample seating with an upholstered sectional sofa and chairs. A collection of videos, DVDs and CDs, as well as games and cards are provided. This room has a large bar suitable for cocktails and conversation, with an adjacent powder room for your convenience.
The villa has four bedrooms, each air-conditioned and professionally decorated to provide an elegant home. The rooms are named in accordance with the decor:
The White Room which is adjacent to the media room, has a queen size bed festooned with white sheers. Tropical bedside tables and a colonial style mahogany desk and chair, complete the venue.
The Polo Room contains two twin beds, side tables, a mahogany armoire, and a large bureau. The decor is decidedly polo. Mahogany pocket doors open to the garden and pool, with a view to the sea. This room has an LCD flatscreen television with a DVD player and stereo. These two bedrooms are located in the south wing of the house, and share a creme Marfil marble bathroom.
In the north wing of the villa there are two adjacent bedrooms with a center hall. The Princess Margaret Room is outfitted with two canopy twin beds, a flatscreen LCD television, and a DVD player. There is a private ensuite bath with marble counters, floor, and shower, highlighted with gold fittings. Skylights bring sunlight into the room during the day, and the moon and stars at night. This royal room dedicated to Princess Margaret, opens into a private Gazebo.
The Master Bedroom provides a queen size canopy bed with anIndiastyle carved headboard, along with large bamboo side tables - all of which give this room a decidedly international flair. Two upholstered wing back chair.
